Our 2022 Scholarship Winners Are Smart. Kind. Human. (part 1)

Share

Welcome to our Smart. Kind. Human. series, where we are featuring the amazing students who received $1,000 towards their post-secondary education through Serenia Life’s scholarship benefit in 2022*.

We’re loving how SMART these kind humans happen to be

And while all of them are smart and kind and human – obviously! – this month, we’re sharing quotes that demonstrate that this first group of winners certainly have a good head on their shoulders.

Carson Bowering

“During the first month, I had reached top of the leaderboard and held that position till the last day of class. Using these habits I will continue to create even more financial security, looking towards the future of supporting a family and buying important assets.”

Joshua Heinze

“Big purchases are something I try to make as little as possible. However, when I do make them, I ensure they will benefit my long-term needs. My computer was a wise purchase. I will continue to save my money for important expenses and keep track of any purchases that I do make in order to maintain good spending habits.”

Spencer Phillips

“I’m continuing to develop a financial plan that incorporates planning and budgeting money according to what I need in my life. With university coming, I had been applying for scholarships such as this one, to lighten the financial burden on myself and parents who will be paying for the education.”

Mackenzie Bonneville

“I think that my experience buying and selling vehicles will help build my negotiating and interpersonal skills which are essential for making successful business decisions. Additionally, learning techniques for proper research will be helpful in making informed decisions and ensure that better financial decisions are made too.”

Maddie Robertson

“I put half of every single payment into my savings to help pay for future university expenses. Through this method, I can begin a proper financial plan for years to come and set firm savings goals while I’m young to stay in the beneficial habit of saving.”

Yvonne Orr

Yvonne Orr
“This is the financially responsible and smart choice even though I may wish to stay in Victoria some of the time. All these decisions are made to benefit my future and I strive to maintain this financially responsible mindset.”
